Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in a standard text editing program (for example Microsoft Word).
  • The references are in APA 7th for in-text citations and reference list at the end.
Where available, DOIs or URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font in Times New Roman (TNR). Subheadnings in bold, either 14-point font TNR or in 12-point bold if less important. Employ italics, rather than underlining (except URL-adresses). The use of footnotes should be kept at a minimum.
  • All illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points and must have an explaining text just below the illustration/figure or table.

  • If submitting to a peer reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
  • A maximum of 6 keywords have been suggested by the author. Please avoid words used in the title. Key words should be provided in both English and Norwegian, Swedish, or Danish.

Author Guidelines

NORIL accepts two formats of submissions, research articles and best practice articles. The articles must be relevant to the scope of NORIL.

A research article should be between 3000-6000 words, including references, and will be peer reviewed by two anonymous experts in the field. A best practice article should be between 1000-4000 words and will be reviewed by the editors.

Articles can be submitted in Norwegian, Swedish, Danish or English.

All articles must include an abstract in English. The abstract must not exceed 250 words.
Note that the abstract of a peer-reviewed article should include information about the purpose of the study, the research design and methodology, as well as findings, originality and value of the paper.

If authors are using copyrighted material that requires permissions for using it, the authors are responsible for ensuring the relevant permissions are obtained and pay any fees that may follow the use of the material.

This journal adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the "Publication Manual of the American Psychologist Association", last edition, the APA style. For details see: http://apastyle.apa.org/. Other requirements can be found in the submission preparation checklist.
